Right now I'm working on getting my 72 Dart ready so I can pull the 440 out of my 73 Charger and stuff it in the Dart.
Here's some pix

Looks pretty good. Whats your plan? Full drag car, original remake, street rod? Some of those Mopar's are pretty slick looking, I wouldn't mind building one of my own sometime instead of a Ford.

It'll be mostly a nasty street thumper. With an occasional run at the strip.

That sounds like my build. I wanted to have a street/strip build. I planed the build around the idea of having as much top end power as possible without sacrificing low end power for the street. I'll get the revs to 5,500 and that's about it but the torque will be 600+ which makes for one nasty street machine.

My pump is a Ohio Crank stroked 572ci. My best dyno was 714.3hp, 758.7ft/lb @ 6500 rpm, at the crank. It will rev to 7800rpm, but it drops of after 6500. I've de-tuned it a bit, so it's probably not that stout, at the moment. The rear in the Dart will be a 8 3/4 489 w/410s. Is why I'm thinking of bolting an overdrive to the 727. Gota do something to get better gas mileage. 19 gallons goes quick.

I would like to build a bigger motor like that. But for what I want to do I decided that 500+hp and 600+ft-lbs is more than enough to get me going especially with 4.09 gears. Because of the gearing and the fact that I will only turn the engine to 5,500 or a little more, I will be bouncing off of the rev limiter passing the 1,000' to the finish line. So to counter act that I will be putting some larger diameter wheels in the back.

Did you happen to have a buddy who is an auto shop teacher? I am in school still and my teacher ran his buddies dart for the high school drags. Yes I know, a little young. But I haven't learned anything in a class if that's what your thinking, I have been doing this stuff for a while and I really do know what I am doing.
